Description
Occupying an area just south of the East Shopping plaza, the new James H. Downey elementary school will serve the lower-grade school needs of the East Side and will eliminate overcrowded conditions in other schools. The building, scheduled for opening in September, is named after the late Joe Downey, popular mayor of Brockton in the depression and post-depression years; March 30, 1971
